Rex Daugherty is an internationally recognized director, theatre maker, and Artistic Director known for new work and innovative productions. Based in Washington, DC, he currently serves as the Artistic Director of Theatre at Solas Nua - where he has earned multiple awards and nominations, garnering critical acclaim for his productions.

His work has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, on the cover of American Theatre Magazine, The Irish Times, aired on RTE - Ireland’s national broadcast, The Scotsman, Edinburgh Guide, British Theatre Guide, The Telegraph - Nigeria, and The Guardian - Nigeria.

Additionally, his work has been seen at The Kennedy Center, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, The National Theatre, The Warner Theatre, Ford's Theatre, Signature Theatre, Round House Theatre, Studio Theatre, Folger Theatre, Rep Stage, The Oklahoma City Civic Center, Oklahoma Shakespeare, Edinburgh Fringe, Dublin Theatre Festival, Dublin Dance Festival, Canada Ireland Foundation, Irish Classical Theatre, The Abbey Theatre, and Off Broadway at 59E59 and Irish Arts Center.

Daugherty is a seven-time Helen Hayes Award nominee, with nominations for Directing, Choreography, Acting, and Producing.

As a writer and play-maker, his plays have received over 20 productions.
